State-of-the-art glazing has come to ABDO College, thanks to Buchmann UK which has invested £30,000 in setting up a Briot glazing lab with everything for lens finishing. Buchmann UK has also sponsored an adjacent anatomy lecture suite at Godmersham Park, Kent, ABDO's national training centre. 

MPOD Consumer website launched

A brand new website has been launched by Buchmann UK to support our ongoing campaign to make consumers more aware of Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) and the availability of a new low-cost instrument to help identify those at risk. The website advises consumers on the importance of regular professional screening for low levels of Macular Pigment, which is thought to increase the risk of developing ARMD in later years.

Since Buchmann UK started it's comprehensive PR campaign on the new MPOD macular pigment screener we have been literally inundated with calls from the general public after the new technology was featured in publications like "Good Housekeeping" and the "Daily Express". The website will therefore serve as an information portal with a useful search facility to allow consumers to locate their nearest optician with a MPOD screener. Why not join the club?

Buchmann UK expand its operation by opening a Technical Service Centre in the North

As part of its continuing company development strategy, and to strengthen its commitment to customers throughout the whole of the UK, Buchmann UK are pleased to announce the opening of their new Service Centre based in the north of the country.

Henson perimeters, which date back to 1986, have focused on the use of supra-threshold perimetry to provide primary care providers with a compact instrument that can rapidly screen the visual field for functional loss from conditions such as glaucoma.  Henson perimeters have been used in a number of epidemiological trials that have investigated the prevalence of glaucoma, including the Beaver Dam study1, the West of Ireland study2 and the North London study3, and in all cases have assisted in the detection of significant amounts of previously undiagnosed disease. Later models (Henson Pro range) have added threshold perimetry and drivers tests to provide a range of instruments that combine rapid screening with an ability to accurately quantify the visual field.
