Absolutely brand new for April 2007 is the stunning WECO 550 multifunction lens edger with every feature imaginable for the modern in-practice laboratory or discerning manufacterer.

Based on the very latest technology from the world-leading Briot/WECO Group, the WECO 550 sets a new benchmark for highest quality lens processing including drilling at variable angles.

A large graphicical user interface is a prominent feature of the WECO 550 and all edging options are selected using colour touch-screen technology. All icons follow logical sequences and the operator is guided through every process intuitively and quickly. The display can be customised for individual requirements, leaving in only those features desired by the user.

The WECO 550 fulfils every requirement for the high quality manufacturing of spectacles, including effortless processing of rimless and supra lenses using its brand new multifunction tooling system. For a premium finish an automatic polish may be applied to the V or flat bevel to a diamond-like lustre.

WECO were the first company to produce an edger with integrated drilling, and now have considerable experience in this field. The WECO 550 is the new generation of in-edger drilling with the widest range of drilling options to cope with all styles and designs of rimless eyewear. The operator can choose from various automatic options for angular drilling, or make a manual selection to process the lens.

• Automatic size adjustment to compensate for climatic conditions or when the coolant becomes warm
• OMA connectivity with optional CL interface

Modern hydrophobic lenses are processed safely with a dedicated grinding mode that offers every protection possible for a problem-free edging process without axis error when used in combination with recommended lens blocking pads and blocks.
