Precision with Simplicity
Weco's most accurate frame tracer with OMA compatibility
The flagship tracer from Weco has a host of easy-to-use features that will grace either the glazing workshop or the dispensing desk. Weco has utilised many years of experience in designing and building frame tracers during the development of the new Trace 3. The result? Possibly the world's most advanced tracer.
Operation could not be easier. Simply place the spectacle frame into the frame area for fully automatic alignment and distortion-free clamping. The user is guided through the operation process by way of intuitive icons on the high-definition colour "Touch Screen". Icons are presented in a logical sequence according to the work process with support by help menus providing specific guidance to the current task.
- Automatic frame alignment and clamping
- No distortion of lightweight frames as clamping is performed automatically with a constant pressure

- Intuitive operation with logical icon displays
- Help menus available for additional guidance
Trace 3 differentiates between plastic and metal frames by adapting the sizing process accordingly. The Trace 3 also measures the groove depth and angle with metal frames for the ultimate in tracing accuracy.
- Tracing programs for plastic and metal frames to ensure a perfect fit
- Determination of groove depth and angle in metal frames to significantly improve the fitting accuracy
- Trace both sides, right only or left only
- 3D tracing and determination of the groove andle and bevel depth
- Automatic calculation of bridge width, box measurement and circumference of the frame
- External tracing of rimless and Supra frames
For complex frame designs the Trace 3 can reduce the tracing speed to reduce the possibility of the stylus falling from the frame. The Trace 3 performs this process automatically in 3 stages. If the stylus falls from the frame groove during normal tracing speed the Trace 3 automatically checks the insertion point and starts the tracing process again at reduced speed. With frames with a non-central groove the stylus is inserted manually and tracing is performed at the reduced speed. After 3 unsuccessful attempts the Trace 3 warns the user with an error message.
- Adjustable tracing speed for complex frames
- If the stylus falls from the groove the Trace 3 automatically re-traces the frame at a reduced speed.
- Three tracing speeds: Quick; Slow & Very Slow
New for the Trace 3 is a colour TFT monitor that employs "Touch Screen" operation. Useful process information is displayed on the monitor to aid the user in its operation and to warn of possible imperfections in the frame. For example, it is possible to graphically compare the left and right shapes to alert the operator of possible aesthetic problems with the end-product. An educated decision can be made whether to use a new frame or to use the trace data from one side only during the edging cycle.
- Precise and reproducible accuracy in edging due to size correction of the lens taking the frame groove and angle into consideration
- Handy visual comparison of left and right side of the frame
- Possibility of decision: Use trace data from both sides during edging or mirror-image one side only, eg if one side of the frame is bent or otherwise distorted
- Regular self-calibration
- Optional bar code operation
The Trace 3 can be used in computer networks that employ the internationally recognised OMA standard of communication.
