The concept of the Edge 862 VI is to reduce or eliminate the fixed costs incurred by manual processes performed by a human operator,
such as:

• Lens verification and marking.
• Layout and blocking.
• Edging.
• Removal of glazing blocks.

All of these processes are performed automatically with the Edge 862 VI, and as the entire process is conducted without the use of expensive consumables such as glazing blocks and adhesive pads, benefits exist with further cost savings and convenience.
The highly sophisticated design of the lens loading system actually allows "blockless" blocking, providing a tremendous reduction in blocking costs and minimising the possibility of damage to the lens surface.

Another clear advantage of this system is the reduction of manual processes, which are often the cause of unintentional errors with subsequent wastage. Typically an operator inflicted error at the edging stage means repeating the whole cycle of surfacing, coating, etc all over again, resulting in delays to the customer and increased costs.

The Edge 862 VI is available in a range of different configurations to suit the individual needs of each laboratory. An optional vertical job-tray magazine holding a maximum of 13 job trays is available. A roller conveyor is also available and custom prepared conveyor systems are designed and manufactured to order.
